Say No to Inertia

Do you ever find yourself obsessing over a problem, issue or potential opportunity on a project, unable to move beyond it as dozens of seemingly unanswerable questions swirl around your brain? If so, you may be suffering from that common affliction in the modern workplace: analysis paralysis. Here are a few steps to help you move back into action.

Set the timer. Give yourself a defined period of time to finish the process of data gathering. It is important to accept the fact that there will always be unknown factors; you will never have all of the data about a particular issue. When you come to terms with the inevitable unknown, you can then make a decision based on what you know today.

Listen to your gut. What does your instinct tell you to do? What feels right? When your fear is no longer driving the decision-making process, you can trust the guidance you receive from your intuition.
