Top 5 CIO Priority in 2009: PM Improvement

New survey by CIO Insight finds improving alignment with business objectives is the No. 1 priority for IT executives.
Not surprisingly, cost-cutting is high on the agenda for chief information officers these tumultuous days, but it’s not their only concern heading into 2009. More than 220 IT executives were asked to name their top priorities in the areas of business, management and technology in a recent survey by CIO Insight. And while cost cutting is the No. 3 business priority, the most important goal among all three areas, and by a significant margin, is “improving alignment with business objectives,” which was cited by 61 percent of respondents in the area of management priorities.
There wasn’t much separation, however, among the next four top management priorities, which included “improving project management capabilities” at 31 percent.
