Agile Alliance, Bowling Green Launch Initiative

New learning program, dubbed the Agile Software Factory, provides students with real-world agile software development experience.

The Agile Alliance has joined forces with Bowling Green State University to establish the Agile Software Factory, a new service-learning program that will provide students with hands-on experience developing commercial software using agile methods. The program is believed to be the first to integrate agile methods into higher education curriculum and illustrates the continued acceptance and adoption of agile as the emerging standard for developing software.

"The Agile Alliance is committed to expanding the reach of Agile methods and our support of the Agile Software Factory is an exciting opportunity to introduce the concepts of Agile to technology students and local organizations in need of quality software,” said Phil Brock, managing director of the Agile Alliance. "This program further supports the mainstream adoption of agile and we believe other computer science departments within leading higher-education institutions will follow this model.”

The Agile Software Factory at Bowling Green provides software development services to community partners through a hands-on, learning program led by students.
