Recent appointments, promotions, openings and awards in the world of project management.
University of Quebec at Montreal has named Brian Hobbs, PhD, PMP, to the Chair in Project Management. Hobbs is a member of the PMI Research Member Advisory Group. The research chair brings together a team of 11 graduate project management program professors with the aim of building “a recognized center of excellence in project management research in partnership with prominent organizations in the project management community.”
The research is divided into five areas, each with a research coordinator: project management governance; partnerships and networking in project management; processes, practices and new tools in project management; management of innovation projects, and competencies and transfer of learning. Five corporate partners are contributing to the chair: the Agence métropolitaine de transport, Dessau, Ericsson Canada, Hydro-Québec and the Société de transport de Montréal.
In 1976, the University of Quebec created the world’s first master’s program in project management.
