PMBOK Construction Extension Published

The extension to the PMBOK Guide Third Edition provides industry-specific guidelines for construction project managers.

Project Management Institute (PMI) has released the Construction Extension to the PMBOKGuide Third Edition, a 191-page complement to PMI’s A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide) – Third Edition, the most widely distributed reference for project management principles, standards and terminology.

Many construction projects require large amounts of materials, physical tools and labor, and involve many individuals and organizations, necessitating the need for a specific set of tools, techniques and methodologies exclusive to the construction industry, according to PMI. Part of the PMI Global Standards Program, the Construction Extension adapts the globally accepted standards of PMI’s PMBOK Guide to the construction arena and aims to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of construction project management.
