Planview Files Final Petition in Lawsuit Against CA

The lawsuit claims CA systematically misappropriated technology and confidential and proprietary information from former Planview employees and used the acquired trade secrets to harm the company's business.
Planview, a provider of IT portfolio management solutions, has filed its final petition as part of its ongoing lawsuit against CA, which produces the CA Clarity PPM solution. The lawsuit, filed in the Travis County District Court, claims CA systematically misappropriated technology and confidential and proprietary information from former Planview employees and used the acquired trade secrets to harm the company's business.
Specifically, the lawsuit alleges that CA proactively recruited a significant number of Planview top performing sales and pre-sales staff. The employees hired by CA breached non-compete and non-disclosure agreements by having frequent communications with CA's product development team to transfer information about key elements of Planview's products. These discussions resulted in the transfer of trade secrets that enabled functionality within the CA Clarity product line, features previously only available from Planview products. The former employees also actively engaged with existing and prospective Planview customers on behalf of CA.
"The facts here demonstrate CA misappropriation of Planview's corporate trade secrets," said Karen Burgess, partner, Taylor Dunham Burgess, LLP, Planview's legal counsel.
