Training In The Trenches
Karen Klein   (March 1, 2007)

For the countless “unofficial” or part-time project managers who are cast into the role with little or no formal preparation, project management training must be simplified in order to be effective, according to author Rita Mulcahy. She’s written a new book that discards formulas and theories in favor or straightforward tips and exercises.

Rita Mulcahy, founder and CEO of training and professional development service provider RMC Project Management, is also a widely recognized author, trainer and speaker in the industry, best known for her Tricks of the Trade and PMP prep courses. Her latest book, PM Crash Course Premier Edition, is written specifically to provide real-world advice and tools to the thousands of people who are thrust into projects or project management roles with little or no formal training.

ProjectsAtWork spoke with Mulcahy recently about the new book, and how it reflects her overall training philosophy.

You’ve written many books in the past. Why did you choose this subject now?
There’s a grand upwelling of project managers really getting excited about getting more help.
