Microsoft Office Project 2007 introduces some bug fixes, cosmetic changes and useful features. Is it enough for current Project users to justify rushing out to buy the upgrade? Here’s an early look at what has and hasn’t changed.
Editor's note: Our December homepage poll has found that 78 percent of your organizations use Microsoft Project, either as one piece of a project management solution (41 percent) or for the majority of enterprise project management (37 percent). However, only 10 percent plan to upgrade immediately to the newly released Project 2007, while 61 percent will eventually and 29 percent have no plans to do so.
This is the first in a series of articles reviewing the new features in Microsoft Office Project 2007, Project Server and Project Portfolio Server, and exploring their use in the real world of projects.
Microsoft Office Project 2007 is the latest release of the most widely used project planning and scheduling tool in the world. In the same way that Microsoft Word and Excel are dominant products in the workplace, Microsoft has pushed aside the competition over the years by building or buying increased functionality and generally improving the look and feel of its Project solution.
