Here’s our July 2007 roundup of the latest technology solutions for project managers, teams, executives and organizations, including the first new version of Pertmaster’s flagship risk solution since being acquired by Primavera … a couple of mind-mapping offerings … a unifying framework for cost, schedule and risk estimation … and more.

Primavera PertMaster v8
Highly integrated risk solution offers faster risk loading, analysis and reporting at the project, business unit and corporate level.
Primavera has released PertMaster v8, the first new version of the widely used risk management solution since Primavera acquired U.K.-based Pertmaster in December. PertMaster v8 offers project managers a complete lifecycle risk management toolset with faster risk loading, analysis and reporting. It is also the first risk management tool to provide both cost and schedule risk analysis linking a risk register with a Monte Carlo risk simulation, according to the company.

PertMaster v8 allows for full risk workflow from the early bid phase through project planning and onto project execution and control. Other new features include determination of risk exposure for all project stakeholders as well as contingency and mitigation plan cost/benefit analysis; interactive drill-down for quick and easy risk “hot spot” determination; tree-driven drill down risk histograms and probabilistic cash flow reports; scatter plots integrating cost and schedule risk confidence levels; amd enhanced user interfaces, including methodology-oriented views and worksheets enabling common risk processes to be captured and templated.

“As more and more risk methodologies and mandates are published, there is a growing need to provide a risk platform that can easily be molded to compliment those mandates,” said Dan Patterson, director, Primavera Pertmaster.
