As the project management profession continues to grow, so, too, does the discussion about the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and its real-world value. I have heard a number of different views on the subject that appear to split the project management community. Many suggest that the certification is too easy to obtain and losing its value, devaluing the profession in the process; others defend its importance in providing standards and legitimacy to the project management profession.
Many project and program managers with extensive practical experience — PMPs and non-PMPs alike — believe that the PMP certification is just too easy to obtain and retain. A
